Khevsureti: Gergeti Trinity Church / Chewsuretien: Gergeti Dreifaltigkeitskirche

From the english Wikipedia:
Gergeti Trinity Church (Georgianწმინდა სამება - Tsminda Sameba) is a popular name for Holy Trinity Church near the village of Gergeti in Georgia. The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri (the left tributary of the river Terek), at an elevation of 2170 meters (7120 feet), under Mount Kazbegi.
The Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century, and is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. The separate belltower dates from the same period as the church itself. Its isolated location on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature has made it a symbol for Georgia. The 18th century Georgian author Vakhushti Batonishvili wrote that in times of danger, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino's Cross were brought here for safekeeping. During the Soviet era, all religious services were prohibited, but the church remained a popular tourist destination.

Dreifaltigkeit.

The Kazbek, 5047m. If you don't see Prometheus bound to the mountain, punished by the Gods for bringing fire to mankind and tortured by an eagle that feeds on his regrowing liver - then you might not have looked exactly enough.

How to reach Gergeti: Take car or Marshrutka to Stepanzminda. You will see the church  from almost everywhere in Stepanzminda. There are jeeps that take tourists up; if you rather make the hike and want to enjoy the clean mountain air, be avised not to take the road seen above; there is a nice and easy pathway up which will take about 2,5 hours.

Shatili, Chewsureti / Schatili, Chewsuretien

From the english Wikipedia: "Located in the deep Arghuni gorge at approximate 1,400 meters, the village is actually a unique complex of medieval-to-early modern fortresses and fortified dwellings of stone and mortarwhich functioned both as a residential area and a fortress guarding the northeastern outskirts of the country. The fortress consists of the terraced structures dominated by flat-roofed dwellings and some 60 towers which cluster together to create a single chain of fortifications. Shatili was once part of the Kingdom of Kakheti.
The population of Shatili, along with that of most of the Khevsureti, was resettled under the pressure from the Soviet authorities to the plains in the early 1950s. In the 1960s, the exotic landscape of the empty village was used as a setting for a series of Georgian films about the past life of the highlanders.[2]
Shatili is still inhabited by a dozen or so families, but is inaccessible by road during wintertime. The village is a favourite destination for tourists and mountain trekkers.

The trip from Tbilisi takes 3,5 hours. A 4x4 is advisable. Drive north onto the Georgian Military road. Shortly behind Zhinvali, in the village of Kvemo Aranisi (before the Ananuri barrier lake!) take a sharp turn to the right to village Chinti, then just follow the road to Shatili.

Sno-Valley / Sno-Tal

There's a little castle in Sno valley, built in the 16-17th century AD with round walls on a natural rock. (See photos below.) The valley follows river Tergi to Juta, 2150m above sea level. All paths from here are for hikers and horse-riders only.

Most prominent son of the village of Sno is Patriarch Ilja II.

The sno-valley can be found easily. Just follow the Georgian military highway. Four or five kilometers south of Stepanzminda / Kasbegi leave the "highway" into the village of Achkhoti, then simply follow the road into the sno-valley. The path, which can be taken by normal passenger cars in good weather, although a 4x4 will be better suited, will turn northeast after ca. 10km and reach Juta after another 5km. Plan  with 45-60 min. for the drive or 4,5 h of walking for 15km. There's a camping place near Juta.
