The Chronicle of Georgia, Tbilisi / Die Chronik Georgiens, Tbilissi
built by Zurab Zereteli, but never finished. It is little known even to locals. It is in fact rather difficult to find detailled information. The best description I found with many pictures shot in day-light: the-chronicle-of-georgia.

nannte man sie in der DDR. Plattenbauten, wie sie in jeder ehemaligen Sowjetrepublik zu Tausenden zu finden sind.
was the popular expression in the formeer GDR for such buildings made with precast concrete slabs. You can find them by the thousands in all former soviet republics.

Haus des Kinos, rechts unten in die Bildmitte verlaufend die Rustaveli Ave. Gut zu erkennen ist das Haus des armenischen Architekten Melik Azaryants. Hero Square Tbilisi / Heldenplatz Tbilissi /
Nobody I spoke to has ever had an explanation who this important traffic junction was named after. Some hint to the sowjet Cosmonauts, Gagarin and others. Untill about 2010 it consisted merely of a large roundabout. During this time some people called a hero who had passed the junction without an accident. If you came down from Tshavtshavadze Ave. (or watch other drivers) you understood this saying very well.
Niemand, den ich gesprochen haben, konnte mir je eine Erklärung für den Namen des Platzes geben. Manche verwiesen auf die sowjetischen Astronauten, Gagarin u.a. Bis ca. 2010 gab es nur den Kreisverkehr mit der runden Verkehrsinsel. Im Volksmund wurde derjenige, der es schaffte, den Platz ohne Unfall zu überqueren, als Held bezeichnet. Wenn man von der Tschawtschawadse Ave. runter auf den Platz fuhr (oder andere Fahrer dabei beobachtete), verstand man diese Redensart.

Sacharia-Paliashvili Theatre for Opera and Ballet
The building, located on Rustaveli Ave., was restored recently. Now this Opera House shines more than ever. It was originally built under the german-baltic architect Victor J.G. Schröter, born in St. Petersburg, in moorish style.
The first picture is about 20y. old; large parts of the facade were hidden under large posters when I took the other pictures (Dec 2017), but it hasn't changed much since then.

Old Church of Holy Trinity Tbilisi / სამების ეკლესია
You can find the "Old Church of Holy Trinity"on Grigol Abashidze-Str., between Baratshivili- and Anton Purtseladze-Str. The church was built in 1790.
